So sweet..

i've always loved baking and decorating cakes. i haven't always been good at it though. but, i've certainly tried. i decided to dig into some old photos and see what i could find.

for brookelyn's 5th birthday, we had a luau. she wanted cupcakes and this was my first attempt at "pretty" ones. they're not so pretty. but, the stand was pretty awesome, with it's hula skirt around the bottom. if only the pictures weren't crap!

i also made a smaller cake for us to have on her actual birthday. an island and she loved it.

...and then there was the hannah montana guitar cake.

i was actually pretty darn proud of this cake. it was only my 2nd time working with fondant and it was a pretty detailed cake. the best part though, brookelyn absolutely went crazy over it!

cohen's 1st birthday was by far one of my favorites to plan! we had a "monster" party and everything was so much fun to make. this was my first attempt at cake pops and i happen to think they turned out awesome! and, they were soo tasty.

ahh! hard to believe my little guy is turning 4 in 2 weeks.

 i LOVED his cake. other than the fact that part of his face slid off and had to be fixed at the last minute..
my nieces "tinkerbell" cake. Photobucket

brookelyn's 6th birthday was a "sweet shoppe" party. we wanted her cake to be simple, but bright.

cohen's 2nd party, a construction theme. the cupcakes weren't anything amazing on the outside, but they were fabulous on the inside. nutella and snickerdoodle. 2 different kinds of awesome!

a simple monkey cake for my nephews 1st birthday.

a hello kitty party for brookelyn's 7th birthday! this cake was so much fun to make.

{yes, that's a 2nd cake for the 2 grandmas. brookelyn shares a birthday with my mom & matt's moms birthday is only a few days earlier.}

a red, aqua & white airplane birthday for cohen's 3rd birthday last year. no fondant and totally simple.
but, perfect for the occasion.

last september we celebrated brookelyn's birthday with a paris theme. she was in love with every.single.thing. about the party. i copied the cupcakes from a pic i'd seen on pinterest and they turned out pretty close to what the original picture looked like. Photobucket
kinda sad to say that i haven't baked anything worth taking a picture of since september. and, my patience has worn so thin that i'm not sure i'd ever work with fondant again. i hope that there will come a day when i actually have the desire to do so. we'll see. but, i do love the end result and seeing all of the pretty things.
