do you see that number? it's ugly, so, so ugly & nasty! have i ever mentioned that summer is NOT my favorite time of year? i do not love it. not one bit. summer should be when my kids can spend hours upon hours outside playing, riding bikes, drawing in chalk on the sidewalk and spending time at the park.
but summers in the California desert aren't cut out for that. instead, we end up spending far too much time inside, bored. there's only so much fort building, superhero pretending, crafting, dressing up, painting, drawing, coloring, watching movies & snuggling that the kids and i can do before we're bored out of our minds! no wonder brookelyn is always so anxious to get back to school. thank goodness for my mom & stepdads pool.. we've been able to spend some time outside, in the pool, floating around, swimming and having fun. without that pool, i'm not sure any of us would make it through the summer.
and, running errands? forget it! way too hot & miserable.
and then there's this...
the welcome sight of clouds. they might not bring much relief as far as the heat, but at least they block out the sun. they're gorgeous too though. the kids & i love going outside, looking up and talking about what we see. brookelyn's gotten pretty good at seeing "things" in the clouds. i love that and i love that cohen's wild imagination helps him to see some of the craziest things ever. brookelyn & i just crack up!
my girl and i were so excited about the stormy weather on saturday (late) afternoon, that we decided to take a drive out to the middle of nowhere. we saw some beautiful lightening strikes, grey skies and rain in the distance. but, we didn't get our wish.. we'd hoped we'd driven far enough to reach the rain. after driving miles & miles though, it still was just off in the distance. we had a nice time though and it was gorgeous out!
i love love love cool weather. cold weather even. sweaters, jackets, boots, gloves, scarves, hats, all that cozy stuff. remember that we are moving to wisconsin in the next few months? people are always asking why we'd leave sunny california to live in (beautiful) wisconsin and the weather is always one of our first reasons when explaining. the photo below.. 68 at 10pm (their time, that's on my phone so it's 2 hrs behind). THAT is the weather I can't wait to enjoy. i know, i know.. winter will be COLD. but, i promise i'm ok with that. promise! the humidity is the one thing that will be really different for us, but i'm not worried. we'll adjust.
do you love where you live? or.. do you hate it? are summers miserable or mild and lovely.. like they should be?

Oh, so hot there!! I think it was about 5 degrees cooler where we live. I am so ready for fall, especially when we don't have central air or a pool!! Have a great night! xo Heather
I love WI weather. I love 4 seasons. This summer was unusually hot though.. :( I really hate summer anyways. Haha. Love me some fall. I could settle for 6 month of autumn at a time. Unfortunately we only get like 2... And like 4-5 months of winter. I love snow too. If its gonna be cold, I want pretty snow :)
I'm in MN and the summers here & next door in WI are wonderful. We've lived in 100+ summers and I feel your pain. You can't go outside in the summer it's so miserable. We didn't like the winters either, it wasn't warm enough to be outside, but there was no snow to go outside and play in. You'll love WI. It is a beautiful state.
