i am so grateful that each of my children have such a love for reading.
brookelyn much more so than cohen, but he still gets excited about new books.
for christmas, both kids were given gift cards to barnes & noble. so today, after school we went on a little trip to the book store. we LOVE going to the book store! the kids really enjoy that they can pretty much roam free in the children's section and that it's one of the few stores that they're allowed to touch things in.
the smile on brookelyn's face brings a HUGE smile to mine. seeing her SO excited about finding a particular book is the greatest! and chances are, she'll have read both of those books by the end of the week. she's me, when i was 9. nose in a book, morning, noon and night.
this picture sums up our afternoon perfectly, and reminds me why it is so important to spend time like this with the kids. discovering new books, new words and letting the kids discover on their own, while i just sit back and watch. sometimes that's my favorite thing to do with my kids- take them someplace that's FOR them, where they can touch, they can be free to roam and play, all while i just follow along, and stay a few feet back while they're taking in their world, learning and growing and experiencing things all on their own.
i'm seriously considering paying them an allowance in barnes & noble gift cards, because they both love it so much. watching them discover the world around them is absolutely one of my favorite things to do with the two of them.
does your family have a favorite place to go where you can let them do their own thing, play and discover on their own while you sit back and watch them do so?

What books did they decide on? There's nothing sweeter than watching little ones enjoy books. I was such a book worm when I was little!
I love this post so much! I love going to the bookstore with Ethan. He has his own in-room library buuut I couldn't resist getting a library card so we could go each week and pick out books. It's my favorite thing to do, to watch him roam the aisles with huge eyes and just grab books and get so excited. These photos are so cute -- looks like everyone enjoyed their trip to the bookstore!
you are such a good mama xoxo
I love books and I love that you have readers on your hands! Jack is a big reader but he has so many other interests that he doesn't read as much as he used to. EJ is learning now but the girls still choose to be read to over all other activities.
