today i am lucky enough to be co-hosting Life Lately, with Alli from Life on Leroy and Hayley from The Weekend File. i've been linking up for Life Lately every other Monday for a few months now and it's been such a great and fun way of getting to know other bloggers and having a peek into the goings on in their lives. i hope you'll link up with us today!
my life lately... dry and flaky.
well, my skin anyway!
every winter i have such issues with my skin. it's dry. really dry.
this frozen tundra called wisconsin, is NOT helping my dry skin. in fact, it's only gotten worse.
last weekend i set out on a mission to find something to save my poor, dry, cracked & bloody hands.
gross ha? i thought so too. my lips needed some help too and after searching our house for anything i could find, i remembered my birthday gift from sephora this past november. and, i hit up target for something to save my poor hands.
these SUGAR lip treatments from fresh were the gift from sephora and i'd forgotten about them. luckily, i found them this past week and WOW. they're amazing!
the rose one on the left is very, very lightly tinted. so much so that i don't even notice any color when it's on. the clear one smells amazing. they both do. but, it's my favorite.
the sad part? they're $22.50 each! that's a whole lotta cash for .15oz of lip treatment. we'll see though, they might being one of those things that i just HAVE to splurge on. had they not been a birthday gift from sephora, i'm not sure that i'd have spent that kind of money. if you've got dry lips that need help and SPF, you might want to try these out though. if you're willing to spend the dough.
another new winter must have is this Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme.
pure CREME. this stuff is THICK, smells heavenly and works SO well. after being a hair stylist (and washing my hands constantly/having my hands in water all day every day), being a complete germaphobe (and washing my hands all day every day), coupled with the cold, dry weather i end up with the absolute worst cracks, splits, etc on my hands. it gets so bad that it'll bleed and it hurts. a lot. i must have spent a good 45 minutes to an hour in target searching for something that would be thick enough and strong enough.
this stuff works!

something that i'm really loving about living in such a cold climate is scarves! i wear them all day, every day. there's even times when i don't take my scarf off until i head to bed. it's just THAT cold. and today, i found this beautiful scarf at World Market. isn't it great? it's not super thick, but was surprisingly warm this afternoon when i wore it for a bit.
what are your favorite winter must haves?
do you remember this post here, from Karri (House of Tubers)? she shared some wonderful winter survival tips. and, i must say that i reference that post often! and, am following her tips. the girl knew what she was talking about! even on the frigid days, i make sure that the kids & i get out for some vitamin d, i've treated myself (matt & the kids too) to many a jacket, scarf, mittens, hats, etc. the kids have loved sledding, building snowmen and even helping shovel the driveway & walkways. we don't have snow right now, but should have more soon.. we hope anyway!
i was not paid in any way for this post, nor was i given any of the products for free. all opinions are my very own.

Scarves are the best winter accessory! And luckily, I've never had a huge dry hand problem, so I'm not big into lotions or anything for my hands, it actually annoys me to have a creme of any type on my hands, so I doubt I'll be trying that anytime soon, although I think I have some just from gifts in the past. I would love to try those lip treatments though, but yeah, the price tag doesn't excite my budget at the moment! lol
I have those lip glosses from Sephora, too. Sometimes I am just "meh" about lip gloss. But these are AMAZING!
I might have to try that burt's bee's stuff. My skin does not like the dryness of winter either!
Oooo... I'm going to have to try that cream. It sounds amazing! The scarf's adorable too. :-)
I guess I am going to have to try that gloss. Hmmm.
Love the scarf!
love Your scarf Alyson :)
Great post! Thank you for including World Market...

LOVE that Burts Bees hand cream...I used to use it all the time. I should splurge and buy myself some...may hands have been SO dry with this winter weather. And you know I love a good scarf. That one is so pretty!
I may try the hand creme. I've tried just about every lotion out there, but between washing my hands all the time & the weather...ugh??? I can't even work on crochet stuff because the yarn makes my hands hurt so much!!! I hate winter!
