today after dropping cohen off at school i decided to drive.
no destination, no stops planned.. just a drive. i had an hour to kill, so why not?
the history and architecture that make up Milwaukee are just two of the aspects of the city that i love SO much. sadly, i can't tell you any of the names of the buildings or any of the history, because i've yet to learn that info myself. i can tell you, that they're beautiful and breath taking.
it's been warm this week.. as in, high thirties/very low forties warm! and, today the sun was shining and the sky was completely clear and a lovely shade of blue.
told you.. ah-mAY-zing!
and SO cool. tomorrow i plan to research this building.. with the lady bug things on it!
you aren't getting sick of milwaukee are you?
i hope not, because surely there will be lots more to come.
this afternoon was such a great time for me.. just driving, all alone. therapeutic really. hopefully, the next time i go into the city (it only takes about 7-10 minutes to get there) i'll know a little more history behind some of the architecture. and, a great place to stop for coffee and blogging.
also, i need to buy post cards to send to family and some friends.
what do you love most about your city? or, do you wish you lived somewhere else?

so glad you are loving your new city! I use my yelp app like crazy to find good local place :)
Fun! I love exploring new-to-me places. You should turn some of your photos into post cards for family & friends - they'll appreciate those more than store bought!
Enjoy your new city - I'm looking forward to your adventures. {and more info on that ladybug building!}
Whoa! That looks beautiful!! It was fun to see the pictures of your new area!!
i have never been here so love seeing your take on the city!! It looks absolutely gorgeous!!
photo 1: (R to L) Far right building with spaceship like structure on top is the Hyatt. That circular thing rotates. Next is 100 E Wisconsin Ave. Home of Wells Fargo Bank and lots of offices. Chris used to work there when Arthur Anderson existed. The pointy building to the L of that looks like its the Wisconsin Gas building, but I can't be sure. The phallic that's in the shadow of the white tall one (US Bank building - where Chris's office is now) is City Hall. The rest are offices and condos.
Photo 2: City Hall. Bruggers Bagels and Water Street Deli (YUM!) to the left.
Photo 3: it was built for that purpose :) Red building in back houses Joey Bueno's restaurant and white bldg on right is Quarles & Brady (law firm + offices).
Photo 6: is that the NE corner of Water and Michigan St? It looks like it could be the Bank of Milwaukee/State Bank of WI building at 210 E Michigan (that's just the building name).
Photo 7: Ah. That used to be the Ladybug Club. Its housed several sketchy nightclubs. Not sure what is in it now. Nothing noteworthy.
BTW - I need to take you on a historic tour. :)
I have a book (not crazy big and easy to reference) on Milwaukee architecture if you'd like to borrow it.
The white building behind the Public Market (really more tan in person) is where my hubs works.
