two fourteen thirteen

last week brookelyn brought this home. from a boy, in her class. he used his free time in art class to make this for brookelyn. 

so sweet, but oh.my.goodness!

i came across this picture of cohen, while browsing my old blog. 

oh, sweet baby. hard to believe he'll be 5 this june! look at those chubby little fingers!

we've been loving all of the cold & snow lately. but, i'll admit that it's been nice to see the sun shining this week. and, it's melting some of that nasty ice that covers everything!

tuesday night we celebrated mardi gras for the first time ever with some good friends here in tosa.

cohen spent some time wednesday morning writing his name on 21 valentines, all by himself. totally impressed his determination and so proud of how much he's learned in the 2 months that he's been in school.

i've not felt that great the past few weeks and so i'm really trying to drink more water and eat tons of veggies during the day. dinners are typically healthy around here, but with matt getting home late (and us still kind of adjusting to it) we've eaten more takeout than we're used to. that is changing. after tonight of course, because neither of us wanted to cook for valentines day. and we've gotten back to making lots of smoothies again. it's just so much easier to get fruits & veggies into cohen that way.

for valentine's day dinner we used the ottoman as our table and decorated it a little. the kids had pink milk, which freaked cohen out a bit. so funny. and, a little notecard & chocolate from me. oh, and that red thing? it's a box of chocolates wrapped up pretty in one of my scarfs! i didn't have time to wrap it and thought that looked prettier anyway. 

and then, the kids surprised us with valentine's day cards from them! even cohen! so so sweet.

right now brookelyn is all about using the "roses are red" poem and i just love it. i'm a lucky mama!

after our sweet dinner and card exchange, we snuggled up together to watch A Charlie Brown Valentine.

tomorrow we start a 4 day weekend. so far we have school conferences, a play date, and a possible museum visit planned.
